About the Course

Why Should Your Child Learn the Rubik's Cube?

The Rubik's Cube is far more than a colorful toy or a party trick. Invented in 1974 by Hungarian professor Erno Rubik, it has become the world's best-selling puzzle with over 450 million units sold — and for good reason. Solving the Rubik's Cube is one of the most effective activities for developing spatial intelligence, logical reasoning, algorithmic thinking, and perseverance in children.

When a child learns to solve the Rubik's Cube, they are not simply memorizing a sequence of moves. They are developing the ability to think in three dimensions, to understand how individual changes affect an entire system, and to break a complex problem into manageable steps — all skills that are foundational for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Solving Methods We Teach

From beginner to competitive speedcubing — a structured path that builds skills progressively.

Layer-by-Layer Method (Beginner)

Best for: Beginners aged 5-10 who are learning the cube for the first time

The Layer-by-Layer (LBL) method is the standard beginner approach and the foundation of all cube solving. Students learn to solve the cube one layer at a time: first the white cross, then the white corners (first layer), then the middle layer edges, then the yellow cross, yellow face, and finally the last layer corners and edges. Each step uses a specific algorithm — a defined sequence of moves — that students learn and practice until it becomes automatic.

  • Solve the white cross on the first layer
  • Solve the white corners to complete the first layer
  • Solve the middle layer edges using insertion algorithms
  • Create the yellow cross on the top layer
  • Orient the yellow face using a simple algorithm
  • Permute the yellow corners to their correct positions
  • Orient the yellow corners to finish the cube

CFOP Method (Advanced)

Best for: Students aged 10+ who can already solve the cube and want to improve speed

The CFOP method (Cross, F2L, OLL, PLL) is the most popular speedcubing method used by competitive solvers worldwide. It is significantly faster than the beginner method because it combines steps and uses more efficient algorithms. Students transition to CFOP after mastering the beginner method and typically achieve solve times under 60 seconds with practice.

  • Cross: Solve the four edge pieces of the first layer simultaneously
  • F2L (First Two Layers): Solve corner-edge pairs together, combining two steps into one
  • OLL (Orientation of the Last Layer): Orient all pieces on the top layer so the yellow face is complete
  • PLL (Permutation of the Last Layer): Move all last-layer pieces to their correct positions
