Squares, square roots and cubes appear everywhere in maths — and they're exactly where Vedic Mathematics shines. Here are the shortcuts that turn these dreaded topics into quick mental work.

Squaring made simple

Numbers ending in 5: multiply the first part by the next number up, add 25. 75² → 7×8 = 56 → 5625.

Numbers near a base (like 100): use the Yaavadunam sutra. 98² → 98−2 = 96, and 2² = 04 → 9604.

These build directly on the fast multiplication tricks every Vedic student learns first.

Cubes without the grind

Vedic Maths uses a neat proportional method to cube two-digit numbers using ratios — far faster than multiplying three times. With practice, students cube numbers like 12³ = 1728 mentally.
